Juan Lascano: About Me

 

I was born in La   Plata, Argentina, 61 years ago. I draw and paint since early childhood. I attended several studios looking for a teacher  but I was not lucky enough to find the right one. I consider myself self-taught. I have travelled and studied a lot. I live now in Patagonia where I find the calm and the landscape I need.  I admire the great classical masters, Velazquez  at the top. My choice among the contemporary is Sargent, Sorolla, Zorn, Claudio Bravo, Antonio Lopez, Lucian Freud, Andrew Wyeth and Ctibor Csernus.  I think everyone has a unique perception of the world. My intention is to reflect mine in the most accurate possible way. Sometimes I do. I don’t  know why I paint. It is simply what I want to do and that is all I have done my entire life.
